user led mental health advocacy

Volunteering Project

Bradford and Airedale Mental Health Advocacy group provides training and support for people who wish to be volunteer advocates.

As a user-led organisation, many people who have suffered mental ill health work and volunteer for BAMHAG. We welcome people who have experience within the mental health system as a carer or a service user to come and join our valued team of mental health advocates.

Volunteers will be trained with input from experienced advocates, and then will be given the opportunity to train with and shadow experienced advocates, until you are ready to take on advocacy cases of your own.

Volunteers work both within the hospitals and community across Bradford and Airedale.

To speak to someone about becoming a Volunteer Advocate, please contact 01274 770118 and ask to speak to the Volunteer’s Organiser. Alternatively email info@bamhag.co.uk

We also run a Befriending Service which recruits and trains volunteers to befriend people who are isolated as a result of their mental ill health. If you think this might interest you, please follow the link here.
